Innovative Software from D4H Helps Improve Efficiency and Speed of Emergency Services

Enterprise Ireland client company D4H, which specializes in software for emergency response scenarios, celebrated the completion of a successful attack drill with the Massachusetts National Guard earlier this year.

D4H is used by emergency response teams and corporations in over 16 countries around the world. Tracking over 15 million hours of response data a year from terrorist attacks to natural disasters, from maritime emergencies to chemical spills, D4H provides a suite of solutions across Readiness, Response, and Re-Evaluation.

In September, response teams in Massachusetts were tested by Operation SCORE, a fictional terrorist attack – a car bomb exploding outside a town hall meeting, in one of the largest mass casualty exercises the state has seen.

“When the scale of this mock Massachusetts terrorist attack was determined, the Incident Command staff and Support Team at this exercise were faced with high volumes of information,” explained Analyst Robert Charles with D4H. “We provide up-to-date, structured and reliable information to both heighten their situational awareness and contribute towards their incident action plan”.

With over 700 first responders, including the Massachusetts National Guard, at Joint Base Cape Cod, these complex operations involve large multidisciplinary teams including Urban Search & Rescue, Technical Rescue, Hazardous Materials, and an Incident Support Team with four chiefs heading up logistics, planning, operations, and administration.

With this known complexity, the operation utilized D4H software from Ireland, the latest in real-time technology for managing information flows during an incident. The company was founded in 2008 by Robin Blandford, combining his background in the Irish Coast Guard with an accomplished and talented team of computer scientists, first responders, and emergency managers.

“D4H represents the best of what Irish companies have to offer,” said Sean Davis, Director of North America at Enterprise Ireland. “Innovation, efficiency and reliability have been key factors in their success and we look forward to watching and helping them expand their business here in North America.”
