Acme Packet and Accuris Networks Partner to Provide a Wi-Fi Mobile Interworking Solution for Mobile Operators

Innovative Solution for Mobile Operators to Securely Manage Voice, Data and Messaging Seamlessly across 3G, 4G and Wi-Fi Networks

CTIA, New Orleans, LA and Bedford, MA – April 30, 2012  – Accuris Networks, an innovator in mobile technology interworking, and Acme Packet® (NASDAQ:APKT), the leader in session delivery network solutions, have joined forces to launch the first Wi-Fi Mobile Interworking solution, which gives mobile operators a way to extend network coverage and network capacity to Wi-Fi, provide carrier-grade security and offer value-added services even when users offload to Wi-Fi networks. Mobile operators will now be able to use data service policies across 3G, 4G and Wi-Fi seamlessly and end users will benefit from a secure and trouble-free connection to Wi-Fi wherever they go. The solution is currently being trialled with tier one carriers in North and South America. Accuris Networks will show the solution at CTIA at the Enterprise Ireland Pavilion, Hall F, Booth #5343 from May 8th-10th, 2012.

The integrated Wi-Fi Mobile Interworking solution is the first of its kind that ensures mobile operator services get fully extended to both LTE and Wi-Fi. Operators will now be able to use existing packet data services including integration with existing charging, policy and provisioning infrastructure when their users are on Wi-Fi. The standards-based solution guarantees service access and enables a smooth migration as operators move to provide access over Wi-Fi and LTE networks. Working together, Acme Packet’s Net-Net Security Gateway (SG) ensures the secure transfer of data, while Accuris Network’s AccuROAM platform authenticates end users as they travel between 3G, 4G and Wi-Fi networks.

“Acme Packet’s partnership with Accuris Networks enables us to deliver enhanced capabilities for service providers that are enhancing their Wi-Fi networks to become true, fully integrated, extensions of the mobile network,” said Seamus Hourihan, senior vice president, corporate strategy, Acme Packet.  “Service providers can now use Wi-Fi with the full confidence of secure integration with their 3G and 4G networks.”

Aidan Dillon, CTO for Accuris Networks said, “Mobile operators are facing significant challenges; they need to meet the demand for mobile broadband access, yet continue to increase revenues.  With Acme Packet’s NSG, NSD and SMX products working together with our AccuROAM platform, we can now offer a valuable solution that extends existing data, voice and messaging services onto multiple access technologies networks.  Full carrier-grade integration of our solutions into existing cellular networks means that carriers can successfully offload to Wi-Fi, not just for authentication and data but for all the services users currently use such as charging, policy, voice, messaging and roaming.

The cellular to Wi-Fi/LTE interworking gateway gives operators many tools to access the costs savings and added bandwidth associated with Wi-Fi offload including:

  • Fully integrated Wi-Fi offload and roaming incorporating support for secure tunnelled packet data core interworking with any smartphone or with any Wi-Fi access point.
  • Integration with existing charging, policy and provisioning systems for continued service delivery on Wi-Fi and LTE.
  • Secure authentication and transport of data traffic to protect service and subscriber confidentiality to ensure security of subscriber data.
  • Voice and messaging over Wi-Fi and fixed mobile convergence support for additional offload cost savings and service offerings.

Shenick Tests 4G Mobile VoLTE Performance for Subscriber Quality of Experience

Shenick Expands Award Winning Per-Flow IP Application Testing to 4G/LTE Mobile Networks for Validation of Consumer and Enterprise Services

CTIA, New Orleans, CA and Burlingame, CA – April 30, 2012 – Shenick Network Systems, (www.shenick.com) provider of per-flow IP and 4G communication test systems, announced today that it is working with mobile service providers (SPs) and network equipment manufacturers (NEMs) to test quality of experience (QoE) of 4G networks for next generation services such as Voice over LTE (VoLTE) and streaming video. Shenick’s diversifEye™ tests 4G networks for next generation VoLTE, IP video and other data services over both regular and secure mobile VPN’s such as SSL and IPsec; right down to each individual application flow. Shenick will showcase this solution at CTIA at the Enterprise Ireland Pavilion, Hall F, Booth #5343.

“High bandwidth LTE deployments carrying VoLTE calls, streaming video and data services, together with increased demand for secure enterprise VPN connections pushes the LTE network to its limits. In all of this, there are serious considerations for quality, scale, performance and integration,” says Robert Winters, chief marketing officer at Shenick Network Systems.  “Shenick is helping SP’s and NEM’s to address the real quality challenge in moving mobile voice services from what used to be dedicated voice handling infrastructure to VoLTE which utilizes the shared medium of IP with bandwidth hungry video and data applications.”

Delivering high quality VoLTE presents challenges to carriers and NEMs.  With VoLTE, which combines a high level of security with IMS services and SIP-based voice over IP (VoIP),  IP-driven networks are pushed to the limit where resources must be shared.  As voice calls continue to remain the key revenue generator, service providers benefit from diversifEye because they can ensure quality of experience for each and every VoLTE call. diversifEye can also stress test mobile VPNs to breaking point by scaling to tens of Gigabits-per-second of stateful traffic, pinpointing potential issues all the way down to each network, application and end-user flow on physical and virtualized networks.  diversifEye also enables carriers to identify 4G performance bottlenecks and fully understand end user QoE limitations particularly for new voice, video and data services coming on to the market.

diversifEye™  application notes are  available immediately at info@shenick.com. For more information visit www: http://diversifEye.shenick.com/

10n2 Technologies Announces General Availability of Its ‘No Texting While Driving’ Cloud-based Mobile App for Business

CTIA, New Orleans, LA – April 30, 2012 – 10n2 Technologies (www.10n2tek.com), the anti-distracted driving technology company, today announces general business availability of its ‘No Texting while Driving’ cloud-based mobile app technology for Android and Blackberry. The iPhone version of the solution launches in June 2012 and the consumer version will be available in Summer 2012.  10n2 Technologies’ software promotes safer driving and protects enterprises and consumers from the dangers of drivers whose attention is diverted to electronic devices whether reading emails, sending texts or browsing the web.  The technology will be demoed at CTIA at the Enterprise Ireland Pavilion, Hall F, Booth #5343 from May 8th through May10th, 2012.

“10n2’s mobile app is the only technology of its kind in the market that differentiates between being a passenger and a driver in the car.  No other company has our patent-pending “Attention Verification Test”  which determines if a user is actually driving, by activating a series of timed tests while a vehicle is moving.   Our software is configured to stop drivers from texting, tweeting or even making calls without a hands-free device,” said Ciaran Hynes, CEO, 10n2 Technologies.  “We know companies are very concerned about keeping their drivers from engaging in risky habits and when we launch our product for consumers in Summer 2012, parents will want to do the same for their teenage drivers.”

New master agents for 10n2 Technologies selling in the US are Telecom Brokerage, Inc. (TBI) (www.tbicom.com) and US Network Inc. (http://us-network.com). 10n2’s new products include BizProtect™ and OneProtect™, which prevent the use of mobile devices while driving. BizProtect™ is designed for the enterprise, while OneProtect™ safeguards consumers. Companies are becoming increasingly concerned about the safety of their drivers, the liabilities arising from poor driving habits, rising insurance premiums and the cost of claims. Parents have similar concerns about the safety of younger drivers. Statistics indicate that distracted drivers are 23 times more likely to be in an accident.

10n2’s current technology is based on a mobile device management software that works with smartphones and utilizes device GPS to calculate phone speed. It is administered through a cloud-based portal and aimed at the public sector, enterprise and consumer markets. 10n2 Technologies recently secured a $1.5 million investment from its new Board member Arunas Chesonis, CEO of Sweetwater and founder of PAETEC.

Altobridge acquisition of key Mobile Data Optimisation technology bridges Mobile Broadband Divide

Kerry Technology Park, Ireland, April 2nd 2012: Altobridge Limited (www.altobridge.com), leaders in technology that cuts the cost of delivering mobile voice and mobile broadband connectivity, has purchased the exclusive, worldwide, mobile backhaul rights to an intellectual property suite, comprising proprietary data optimisation capabilities, from leading industry player, Replify.

This functionality has been embedded into the Altobridge patent-pending data optimisation platform, Data-at-the-Edge™, and includes Byte Level Caching, Predictive Cache Loading, Data Stream de-duplication, Data Compression and Protocol Optimization, along with standard data optimization techniques.

Altobridge Data-at-the-Edge™ enables data passing between an operator’s core network and its radio access network (RAN) to be identified, managed and optimized at the most granular level, with intelligence to apply the best possible optimization to differing forms of data, e.g. video and email.

The solution delivers mobile data backhaul reductions of over 50% and therefore has profound impact on the costs of delivering mobile broadband via backhaul-constrained cellular base stations. It can be applied to base stations serving remote communities, remote enterprises and macro urban areas in emerging markets and developing nations.

“Altobridge has spent a decade driving down the cost of remote communications access. Over the last three years, we have concentrated on mobile broadband optimization and this turnkey solution enables the world’s mobile network operators to truly bridge the mobile broadband divide,” said Mike Fitzgerald, Chief Executive, Altobridge.

“Remote communities, remote enterprises or indeed any base station location where a network operator needs to cut backhaul costs, can now benefit from a level of backhaul savings never anticipated within the industry. While cost reduction was the key driver, we have also paid very close attention to achieving the highest quality of service levels and end-user experience,” he added.

Commenting on the agreement, Mr. Brian Baird, Replify CEO, said, “Replify are delighted to be collaborating with a company of Altobridge’s caliber, and together bringing WAN optimization to a new market. Replify Accelerator was designed from the start to be a high-performance, low-footprint, portable solution and we’re seeing the results of that investment in a ground-breaking new product. We’re particularly delighted to see our unique peer-to-peer cache sharing capability, CLAN, adding so much value in this environment.”
