The Cork company leveraged advanced carbon nanotube technology to innovate a first-in-kind multi-ion sensor that simultaneously measures up to 6 essential nutrients in fertigation liquids on site and in real time. It’s a new decision support tool that allows commercial growers to maintain the proper nutrient balance required for better yield, improved flavor and color, greater disease resistance and longer shelf life for their produce.
The product is one of 10 shortlisted for the show’s Innovation Award — the only non-Dutch product on this year’s list.

New Carbon Nanotube-based Technology Delivers Real-time Nutrient
Measurements; Empowers Growers with New Decision Support Tool; Optimizes Crop Yields
CORK, Ireland and SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Oct. 11, 2010—This week at Horti Fair in The Netherlands, the horticulture industry’s premier tradeshow, CleanGrow will introduce its breakthrough multi-ion measurement solution capable of analyzing up to six ions simultaneously. The product combines a carbon nanotube-based sensor with a multi-ion meter for on-site measurements and real-time feedback. Currently optimized for horticultural applications, the easy-to-use instrument is also a natural fit for other applications where existing sensor technology falls short of meeting complex measuring requirements. For growers, it offers a “lab-in-hand” solution—a quick and affordable way to maintain the proper nutrient balance required for better yield, improved flavor and color, greater disease resistance and longer shelf life. Early users include research institutes and commercial vegetable greenhouses. (more…)

In doing so CareCloud and Streetline have the opportunity to compete against other regional winners from Stockholm, Paris, Tel Aviv, Boston, in the SmartCamp finals held in Dublin, Ireland this November. CareCloud and Streetline competed with hundreds of start-up companies that are creating new technologies in critical areas such as healthcare, water management and food solutions.
In addition to the obvious services both companies offer, CareCloud in the healthcare arena and Streetline in urban parking and transportation space, the judges were impressed with another potential aspect as well. CareCloud creates an effective digital ecosystem platform where physicians, specialists, providers, and patients increase and streamline the touch-points with each other. Streetline uses state-of-the-art sensors to network, monitor and manage a City’s parking real-estate and traffic infrastructure.
