Disney has commissioned a new animated series to be produced by Oscar-nominated Irish studio Brown Bag films that will help teach children the importance of healthy living.
The series follows six-year-old Dottie “Doc” McStuffins, who communicates with and heals stuffed animals and toys out of her backyard clinic. With an emphasis on healthy living, the series will highlight the importance of taking care of oneself and others.
Brown Bag Films are producing the series in association with Disney Channel with an early 2011 date currently scheduled for the series to air. The announcement was made yesterday by Nancy Kanter, senior vice president, Playhouse Disney Worldwide. The 52 episode series will be directed by Norton Virgien whose credits include the ‘Rugrats’ series and movie.
It is the second major success for Brown Bag in the US following the completion of a 52-part series for children’s network Nickelodeon last year.
Cathal Gaffney, Brown Bag Films Chief Executive, (audio cast) says they will produce 52 episodes of Doc McStuffins and create 14 new jobs.

Introducing a new dynamic in group socializing, Ellickson International recently debuted the innovative but “why-didn’t-someone-think-of-this-sooner” Draft Master™ beer dispensing system that allows customers to pour their own beer at their table when they choose. The Draft Master beer dispensing system — available as a four-tap system for fixed installation or a two-tap mobile system — is an extension of the pitcher concept but enables bar owners to offer a new fun dynamic to groups with remote monitoring and control.
Ideal for bars, restaurants, bowling alleys or themed entertainment venues, Draft Master couples roundtable enjoyment with bartender/server management via Ellickson’s patented software and touch-screen management system installed behind the bar and integrated with the venue’s Point Of Sale (POS) system. Draft Master is particularly suited to groups on nights out and to those watching sports events in bars with the facility to run up to four separate taps on a table. Patrons simply provide a credit card in advance, are seated at a Draft Master table, they may choose to set a drink or monetary limits and then serve themselves at their leisure.
In doing so, patrons enjoy colder, fresher beer at their own pace and venue managers benefit from a new marketing tool to attract more groups but also reduce waste, improve server efficiency and better control. The quality improvement is enabled by Draft Master’s patented gas-management system that provides better consistency to the beer.

Leading Analyst Firm Celent honor Northway Bank in its 2010 Model Bank Awards
Northway Bank, a leading New England financial services organization has been honored in Celent’s 2010 Model Bank awards for its innovative use of the Econiq frontline sales effectiveness solution.
The awards, which are held annually, recognize a select group of banks for their inspired use of technology. Northway Bank has been honored for its achievement in driving significant improvements in cross-sales and referrals across its frontline channels with the innovative use of the Econiq solution. As a result of the technology initiative the bank has enjoyed increases in household growth rates, consumer deposits, home equity loans, relationship product sales and investment referrals.
Commenting on the award Richard Olson, Director of Consumer and Small Business Banking at Northway states; “We are delighted to be recognized as one of Celent’s model banks for our deployment of the Econiq solution. Like many banks, driving cross sales and referrals from our frontline channels had been a key strategic challenge that we struggled to overcome. Econiq transformed the situation for us and delivered real results fast. Within 3 months of deployment our frontline sales significantly improved and sales referrals skyrocketed. Furthermore the solution was quick to implement and easy to use.”
The Econiq solution provides Northway Bank with a systemic way to capture and record customer insights and information, gathered during everyday interactions, to create rich and insightful customer profiles. The solution analyzes these profiles to get a thorough understanding of customers’ financial needs and identifies cross sales and services opportunities. It then drives alerts directly to staff about products or services appropriate to the customers’ need or creates automated referrals to other parts of bank to initiate follow up as required.
In addition to identifying and driving sales opportunities the Econiq solution provides bank management with real time and historical reports into frontline interactions that give them a significantly improved depth of understanding as to why customers come into their branches, the interactions that occur and what strategies can be adopted to improve performance and optimize efficiencies.
