This is a guest post from Andrew S. Townley, Managing Director of PocketNative, an Enterprise Ireland client company which helps to create highly-personalised, exceptional travel experiences.
Irish travel and tourism start-up PocketNative has created an innovative social media event on Twitter to give the people and businesses of Ireland a chance to share what they feel is special about the country. The event, taking place on May 23rd, is called ‘#IRLday’ and will use the #IRLday hashtag to coordinate tweets from across Ireland into a unified, national voice. The goal of #IRLday is to put Ireland into Twitter’s global Trending Topics list during US President Barack Obama’s state visit and show the nation’s overwhelming vibrance, enthusiasm and resilience to the world.
While there is already support from Enterprise Ireland, IDA, Bord Bia, DCU, Good Food Ireland, Irish Foodies and many others, in order to create a global trend, #IRLday will need as many people tweeting as possible on the day. Ireland needs YOU to get involved!
Participating in #IRLday is also a good way for Irish entrepreneurs to raise the profile of their businesses and highlight the diversity and innovation across the Irish start-up landscape. To register your participation, simply tweet using both the #IRLday and #countmein or #countusin hashtags, and be ready to tweet for Ireland on the 23rd!
For more information about #IRLday, you can read the original blog post at http://bit.ly/IRLday and follow @PocketNative and the #IRLday hashtag on Twitter. During the event, DCU will also be curating selected tweets on the http://irlday.org website.
