This is a great report from the Kauffman Foundation that concludes that Job Growth is Entirely Driven by Startups.  Inc. Magazine also has a great article about the issue and the Startup Visa in The Immigrant Advantage.  This would be a big boost for Irish startups looking to come to the U.S.

cathalThis week, FeedHenry announced that Cathal McGloin has joined the company as chief executive officer.   Cathal has a long history of entrepreneurship coming from Aran Technologies where he led sales for the Americas.  He was of the executive management team that oversaw the successful sale of the Arantech to Tektronix Communications of Texas in April 2009 and prior to this, he was founder and CEO of Performix Technologies, a leader in performance management solutions which was sold to Nice Systems (Nasdaq:NICE) in 2005.  

Cathal is looking forward to his new venture. “FeedHenry is poised to become a huge presence in the area of mobile applications for enterprises and operators,” said Cathal McGloin, chief executive officer, FeedHenry.  “One of the tasks I’ve been brought on board to achieve, is to bring the company to the international market, turning FeedHenry into the next great technology success coming out of Ireland.  One of the key assignments ahead of me is the upcoming funding round.”

Enterprise Ireland and the Enterprise Europe Network Ireland are co-hosting a seminar on the 16th June 2010  as part of the Enterprise Europe Network Technology Roadmap series.  The title of the seminar is “Managed Services & Solutions – Partnerships in the Cloud” and the aim is to provide managed services vendors and independent software/internet application vendors (ISVs) a view from IT architects and cloud vendors.

The Irish Examiner USA recently launched its new Enterprise and Entrepreneurship supplement the purpose of which is to help support the marketing efforts of Irish companies doing business in the USA.  

 You can read the first issue online here. (Pages 19-22)

It plans to feature pertinent news articles on these companies in its monthly enterprise section , including profiling key personnel at these companies, and offering other value added services based upon its strong recognition and connections within the Irish American market.

Building upon its existing circulation in the US, the Irish Examiner will expand its distribution to include universities, libraries, and other markets relating to business and entrepreneurship, in order to provide useful content to VC’s, financial services firms, investors etc. on the great potential Irish companies have to offer.
